Betting On The 2010 Adrian Knox Stakes

April 8th, 2010

The Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) is due to jump at 5pm this Saturday at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse.

As the last race of the day, the Group 3 event will see 15 three-year-old fillies competing for the $125,000 prize purse, concluding the Australian Derby Day in fashion.

There are two stand-out contenders for the 2010 Adrian Knox Stakes – Speedy Natalie and Status Quo equal at $2.80. Starting from barrier 11 and 12 respectively – the fillies seem the safe bets for Saturday’s race.

The only other starter in single figure odds is the Grahame Begg-trained Devoirs at $9.50. Based in Randwick, the filly will start from the middle sixth barrier in the staying event.

Absolute Joy at $12 could be a lucrative punt. Starting from the inside barrier two, the Lee Freeman-trained filly has finished in the top two positions in her last three starts.

Rounding out the odds for the 2010 Adrian Knox Stakes is barrier 5 starter Ceviche at $201. While it may seem an unreachable task for the Guy Walter-trained filly, the risky punter willing to wager a spare dollar would certainly receive a large payout!

Also taking place on Saturday at Randwick will be the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m), the Group 1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) and the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m).
