Disappointing when eleventh in the Group 3 Keith F Nolan Classic (1600m) last time out on March 23rd, Arabian Gold is yet to hit peak form in 2014, but will be offered a good chance to return to the winner’s circle this weekend, having been allocated the relatively central barrier 10.

Contesting a particularly consistent 2013 spring campaign, the talented Dubawi filly won four races and secured two seconds in nine race starts, finishing an impressive fourth in the Group 1 Coolmore Flight Stakes (1600m) on October fifth to boot.

Also included in the final field for the 2014 Adrian Knox Stakes is talented Peter Moody-trained filly Metaphorical.

Securing two wins from only three starts in her debut preparation over the 2013 spring, Metaphorical (barrier 1) has returned to the track in good order in 2014; finishing third in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) first-up, sixth amongst classy competition in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) on March 8th and third in the Keith F Nolan most recently.

Having entered the exciting daughter of Dylan Thomas in nominations for the major Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) this season, Moody is confident Metaphorical will carry winning form into April 19th’s feature race following a return to the winner’s circle this weekend.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse will launch a three-pronged attack on the 2014 Adrian Knox Stakes, having accepted positions in the final field for talented stable mates Role Model, Amanpour and Aztec Rose.

Finishing second in the Keith F Nolan in her only start this season, Role Model (barrier 2) finished second in the Group 2 Wellington Guineas (1500m) and fifth in the Group 1 1000 Guineas (1600m) in her native New Zealand prior to being transferred to the care of Waterhouse in November.

Securing two wins and four places from only nine race starts to date, exciting three-year-old Amanpour is offered a good chance of claiming a third victory this preparation alone in the 2014 Adrian Knox Stakes, allocated the ideal central barrier 9.

Contesting a particularly strong and consistent 2013 spring preparation which delivered one win and four places from seven starts, Aztec Rose is yet to hit peak condition this time in and will have to overcome the awkward barrier 14 if to turn around her recent fortunes this weekend.

Siberian Rose (barrier 5), Postnthyme (barrier 18) and Cast In Stone (barrier 4) have been confirmed as emergency runners for the 2014 Adrian Knox Stakes.
